June has been FULL, what can I say? First of all, thank you so much for those of you who went out and bought the record and have taken the time to tell me about it - I’m so grateful! I have loved reading your comments and feedback on everything, it truly is so encouraging. We spend so much time shaping the songs and trying to really steward them well, so it means so much when you let us know how God is using them in your lives!
We launched the record in Tulsa, OK on June 2nd - Tulsa is my old homestead and stomping grounds! Did that sound Oklahoma enough for you? My parents are still in that area, so it was so fun to have them join us for a concert by the river in Jenks, OK with KXOJ. The station was so good to us, we’re so grateful for an amazing turn out that night. Kristian Stanfill, my label-mate and friend joined my husband and I that night for quite a special night… I know that Kristian made many new fans in Oklahoma! There were many familiar faces in the crowd that night - I loved getting to see so many old friends! The next morning we headed out to Sacramento to spend some time with the kind people at K-LOVE. They were gracious enough to let me spend some time on the air, joined by Kristian and my husband Nathan, I got to sing and share about the songs as our “big brother” Chris Tomlin co-hosted the morning and gave us very heroic introductions! We’re so grateful for Chris…for his leadership and his heart to champion others. One of the other highlights of my June was celebrating Christmas in Nashville while being a part of Tomlin’s new Christmas record. It was recorded live with a few hundred worship leaders over 2 nights. I have a feeling this record will be a favorite for many…the singing that night was angelic and heavenly! I can’t wait to hear the finished project this Fall!
Upon returning home we celebrated Nathan’s birthday on June 8th, then our 14th wedding anniversary on June 16th, then Father’s Day and now coming up…our youngest, Annie Rose, will be turning TWO on what is also the anniversary of our moving to Atlanta, GA one year ago! So…June was and is FULL… But it’s a fullness that I cherish right now…there’s truly so much to be thankful for. June is the month that I remember what an amazing guy I married! With his birthday, our anniversary and Father’s Day, Nathan is very celebrated around here! We’ve had several “group hugs” lately. Not “group hugs” in the sense that you say, “group hug!” - no - these happen spontaneously and it all starts with ME I’ve found… If I walk over and hug Nathan (even when I think the kids are not paying any attention) it NEVER fails…I always feel another little body come along side me and grab on, then another, and now…the littlest comes up and puts her arms around my legs…and there we are, all 5 of us…they don’t know we’re group hugging, they are just getting in on loving their Dad! The sweetest thing about it is that we’re always quiet…we never really announce that we’re hugging or say anything…it’s just a safe, quiet embrace. Pretty sweet moments… and in them I realize that I have allot of persuasion over the hearts of my children…
Things are quieting down for us around here a bit…we know to savor these weeks! We know that God builds them in for us to rest and to store away moments of down time… to remember we’ve retreated when things pick up again soon! We’ll take a vacation in early July and then start rehearsing for some events coming later in the summer. I’m looking forward to sharing these songs on the road…can’t wait! I hope to see you this summer!
So anyway…I am so humbled that the record has made it’s way into some of your homes, your cars, your churches, your lives… I’m thankful for the Spirit of God, that as He leads, He gives us perspective and energy to execute the vision. I need Him tremendously and depend on Him fully for that. I do become overwhelmed at times with the task before me but He gives perspective in the sweetest way sometimes. He gives it in a way that makes the most sense to me in this season of life. He takes a moment to speak it in my heart language… Tonight that looked like my son, Noah, making a “pallet” on the floor so he could be next to his CD player. He wanted to listen to “Life Light Up” as he went to sleep. God reminded me that He holds the grand vision of it all together, and that includes the humble places where He might do His work…in the heart of a child, on a pallet in the floor… I’m thankful He’s Lord over it all…
Love,
Christy

Love your songs! Where can I locate leadsheets for “Choose” and “By Our Love”? I’m a CCLI Song Select subscriber but… no leadsheet is available for “Choose” and “By Our Love” does not seem to be in the CCLI listing.
Never written an artist, but had to tell you from one lover of Christ to another… high fives on the new CD! You are in the car with me and pathetically we belt out worship together over and over. LOL! Anointing on you and your music like none I’ve heard since the days of Twila (ok now you know HOW old I am). My fam is contemplating a move to ATL and NPCC to serve. Thanks for allowing God to use you through song. Stay at His feet.
I love, love, love the new cd. I about fell out when I saw it on the shelf at Lifeway. The Lord so knew I needed to go there the day it was released. I have been opening up my sunroof and giving the Lord some praise along with that cd. Especially “The Song of the Beautiful” it is already hidden in my heart. Thank you for being such a willing vessel for the Lord. You have no idea how it has blessed me and made me want to love Him more.
Also, I met you at Hunter Street Baptist (Hoover, AL) when you came there about 4 1/2 years ago.
Anyway, I had lost my firstborn child and I had wanted to thank you for the song “Glory Baby” which was sung at her funeral.
The Lord blessed me with a child not long after. She is such a joy and I know what it is to rise from the wounding. I also know what it is to be the innocent suffering and finding that He was there all of the time. I could go on and on. Thank you!!!
thank you for sharing that about your son. That is so like God.
Tears fill my eyes every time I play you new CD. My Master is such a beautiful, When I am at home or on the bus coming home from work its your songs that keeps me going
Hi Christy, I wanted you to know how much I have appreciated your new cd. My dear husband brought it home to me several weeks ago, and we have really enjoyed listening to it every day!! We have had several family members pass away recently. Your song “By Our Love” has touched my heart especially during this time with my unbelieving family members. “Sisters we were made for kindness, we can
pierce the darkness as He shines through us”!! I thank God that He has given you an passion to serve
Him and His church with your testimony in songwriting and singing for His Glory!!!!
Christy,
I am grateful for your CD. I wish my heart was able to recieve it. I got it in hopes that it would rekindle my soul, as your music has done in the past. Not working this time. I am so far gone, but I will always remember the joy and peace I used to have from christian music., and you in particular. As I listen to ‘Life Light Up’, i long and remiss that I know longer feel that way,. that I no longr feel it is possible fo rmy life to count to mean anything. That God amy or may not be here. I write this with a sad, almost suicidal heart, I would end it, but I love my son. Thansk for listening.
Hi Christy,
Yesterday, God was moving in my heart in an amazing way all day. I felt such a strong sense of His presence. I had your CD playing in the car on the way home from work. I work at the Best Buy Corporate office and we sell the Sixsteps/EMI records in our stores. YEAH! My heart is really connecting with your CD. I was so grateful that the songs were giving me a voice to worship and praise my Savior and Lord for all that He is and has done and all that I want Him to be in my life. Many of the songs were striking a cord with my heart. “Life Light Up” was giving me the words to voice from my heart that it is my true desire to let God light up my life and let it burn for all to see that He would be honored and glorified. I love that song!
In October of 2005 at one of Chris Tomlin’s concerts in Eden Prairie, MN, God connected my heart to the Passion Movement and I have had the privilege of volunteering and serving the students at 5 Passion conferences the past two years. Being a part of Passion Sydney was literally a 10 year dream come true! I’ve had the opportunity to connect with Chris Tomlin, his band members, Louie and Shelley Giglio, and most of the Passion staff memebers and also share with them how grateful I am for them and the Passion Movement. They all have welcomed me into this movement with open arms and I love them for that! It thrills my heart that God would write me into this part of His story with the MOST WONDERFUL PEOPLE with such BEAUTIFUL servant hearts!
I had the opportunity to worship at 2 of the AMAZING Hello Love Concerts that you were at. I am glad you were able to be a part of that tour! Sixsteps music holds a special place in my heart and I’m so glad that you are now on the label along with the other recording artists. I appreciate your beautiful voice, tender heart and sensitivity to God’s leading in your life. I appreciate your husband Nathan for his part in the recording of the Sixsteps albums. They are always WONDERFUL! You all are OFTEN in my prayers and each time I think of my friends at Passion and Sixsteps, it warms my heart and makes me smile!
I was ecstatic to find out you were back recording again! As a fellow OBU grad and friend of Chris and Robin, I have followed your music for years all the way from my sons and daughters CD. The depth of the imagery in your songs, talent in creating them, and your angelic voice bring a connection with God in worship for those who listen. Doing interpretive dance for offertories in churches, I have danced to many of your watermark songs and look forward to using these also! Thank you for the blessing of your music and allowing your family to be used by God to touch others.
Was just reading through some of the responses to your CD and am so moved to pray for Sarah J. above.
I would love to tell her that if she is God’s child, He will never let her go..and our feelings don’t change that fact! I pray that God will show Himself strong on her behalf and show her the way back to His light. Her son needs to know what we do when we are God’s children…and that is trust in Him
to show us the way out…and up. We have all had those times when we have to trust Him even for the “will” to do what is right. (Phil 2:13) And we must believe that we have already “died” with Him..as Galatians 2:20 says..one of the verses I cling to. “I have been crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live, yet not I, but Christ lives in me. And the life I live, I live by the faith of the Son of God who LOVED me and gave Himself for me”.! We have the promise that we are free from the spirit of fear and have a Spirit of power and love and sound mind. (11Tim 1:7). Sarah, I pray you will somehow feel His love for you and that someone can reach out and show you that. I promise to lift you in prayer daily that you will know your true identity in Christ..the one thing our enemy tries to keep us from! In His Love, A sister
Hey Christy,
I just wanted to say thank you so much for this CD. It has blessed me soooo much!
My favorite song on it is “In Your Hands”. Wow. That song is just what I and many other girls need right now! It is so easy to give our hearts over to other things or people and hope it will satisfy. But placing our hearts in God’s hands is the only thing that will completely satisfy the deepest longing in our hearts! May we continue to give our lives, hearts, minds, over to the Protector of our souls each and every day!
My sister and I have been looking forward to this CD. We love your music because it’s just so
worshipful and from the heart. May God bless you and your family in beautiful, wonderful
ways as you continue to serve Him with your whole heart.
Love from your sister in Christ, Anna
This page needs a little more male input! Christy, I’m on about the 5th time through the new cd–more times through on “Song of the Beautiful”–that’s a gem–God bless you for writing and sharing it. The cd truly is a gift. Thanks to you, Nathan, and your co-artists. “By Our Love” is very special too. The rest keeps growing on me.
Greetings to Nathan and blessings on your family.
p.s. to Sarah (above) - I’m praying for you too.
Hi Christy, I was so thrilled to pick up your new cd when I was home in the USA recently (I’m not sure if it is available in Johannesburg yet). I run a children’s home here, and my 12 kids and I really love singing with you! Grace grace as you mother your little ones and minister with music!
Christy Christy! Soooo glad that you are back, girl! Hope that your time off was refreshing and your spirit is filled
Missed you tho!
Missed hearing the songs of your heart…. looking forward to listening to your new project and worshipping with you!
Hugs.. Amy
Amen and Amen.
Bless you, Christy, for allowing the LORD to use you in such special and powerful ways as He does. Bless you for your humble heart, and for your willingness to use the beautiful gift of worship through song to minister to the hearts of so many whom will surely hear and be encouraged by this album. May God, our Mighty Fortress, be glorified!
With prayer for you and your ministry,
Jessica
Thank you Christy for a great recording! I heard your interview on KLOVE, and was looking for the CD. I found it a couple of days ago, and have been listening to it over and over. The lyrics are so thoughtful and inspiring - they have blessed me. I am a pastor, and want you to know that those of us who do a lot of ministering, also need people like you to minister to us. Thanks again. Pastor Scott
I think I remember you from 722 in atl. I just bought your album today on iTunes and i definatly recommend it be because you do so good at capturing the emotion and message of the songs
Hey Christy, I have been listening to you since your first Watermark CD. You have the most beautiful voice, and the songs that you and your husband write are the real deal worship
thank you for following God’s call on your life and blessing His heart and blessing mine and many others, God’s favor be on you.
Ms Christy:
I am a Chinese.I am not good at English. But I was deeply moved by your voice.I just want to say, Thank you!Music without borders!
Saw Sarah J’s entry from June 28 at 2:51 p.m. and just wanted to make sure someone had responded to her. If not, I’d just like to say to her–Sarah, I’ve been there. Don’t give up! Don’t listen to Satan’s lies that it’s too late! You are a mom–you can and will make a difference and your life will count for something as you fall at Jesus’ feet and surrender your life to His leading. There is a reason for your suffering and you will come out on the other side victorious IF you grab hold of His hand again and don’t let go!
In Christ’s unfailing love,
Shari P.
I just wanted to say thanks for this CD. It has truly impacted my life, and totally changed the way I pray. I pray with your CD every day, and I love each and every song on it. When I listen to your songs, Jesus becomes the delight of my life. I especially love the song “By Our Love.” In the last few months, our church has been going through some really rough times, and it will most likely fall apart. Your song has helped me to know how to act and how to pray. I will be at Passion 2010, and I am so excited to hear you. Thank you so much!! God Bless you and your family. In Christ, Rachel
