I’m SO THRILLED that the SUMMER IN THE PSALMS series is back! I have needed this in my own life!! The lazy days of summer can be wonderful, but I find that it’s easy to drift from my rhythm of staying grounded in truth if I’m not careful. I hope this series meets you right on time in the same way!

Today you are going to get to hear some REALLY fun behind-the-scenes-stories from my new album “This is the Hour,” particularly from the adventure that was the photo shoot for this album! Even the little trick behind getting my hair to look “ablaze” in the wind for the cover of the song Valor! I had so much fun remembering the details of such a wonderful day, can’t wait to tell you all about it! !

This song rose up in me in a season where I began to realize that the hardships, the pain, and what felt like relentless trials were not for nothing. In fact, they would afford me something that nothing in this world could offer me. My bravest step in that season would be surrendering, yielding once again to a sovereign God. Moving toward Him, my true relief in this life!

VALOR // This beautiful word… I’ve come to embrace it like a friend. It’s a personal bravery that is directly tied to, even flows out of our very identity as the Beloved of God.

Today we’re going to keep leaning into the posture and perspective that God’s presence has always been His ultimate plan for His people, that we might flourish and even cause the world around us to flourish too!

The longer I live, the more I’m convinced that the mundane really is the platform that God uses to refine us and grow us…to even shape our lives for longevity! Our part in it is learning to be aware of His presence and being willing to consistently meet with Him in the rhythm of our ordinary days. I know for me, it’s easy to allow the thing I’m building FOR Him to blind me from truly just seeing Him.

I’m not coming around these songs just for the song’s sake—I just believe that God has shown me so much in the past few years of writing and recording these songs and I’m excited to tell the stories and to testify of God’s faithfulness once again and to encourage you that your “ordinary” is a place where God wants to meet with you and shape you into who He’s always known you to be!
